For young people

Get paid to learn on real work. Leave with proof.

Employers want experience before they'll give you a chance to get it. Altᵗ breaks that loop: you join a real project at a company, guided by the person who owns the work, and you're paid for every hour.

What you get

Experience that counts, because it's real.

Paid from the first hour

Every hour you contribute is paid, at no less than your state's minimum wage.

A real project

Not a simulation. You join work a company is already doing and needs done.

A Mentor who does the work

Learn from the person responsible for the project, not a classroom instructor.

Proof you can show

A Mentor's letter, a dual-signed project record and work samples.

How it works

Four steps, start to finish.

  1. 1

    Apply once

Create an account and tell us your interests, your background and the hours you can work. About five minutes.

  2. 2

    Get matched and prepared

Instiform matches you to a project that fits and prepares you before kickoff.

  3. 3

    Do the work, get paid

Log your hours and share your work in your portal. Your Mentor reviews both and gives you feedback.

  4. 4

    Leave with evidence

At the end your Mentor signs your letter and you confirm your project record together.

You can raise a concern with Instiform directly, separate from your Mentor. Hours and responsibilities are agreed before you start.

Questions

What people ask before applying.

Something else? Ask the help chat in the corner. It can pass your question to the team.

Yes, for every hour you contribute. When Instiform employs you, you earn $18 an hour or your state's minimum wage if that's higher. When a company pays you directly, it can never pay less than your state's minimum wage.

No. Altᵗ exists to give people their first real experience. Tell us what you're interested in and when you can work; Instiform prepares you before you start.

Projects are part-time and the hours are agreed before you start, so they can fit around school or another job. You say how many hours you can offer when you apply.

Real work on a project a company is already running: research, analysis, writing, coordination, design and more, depending on the project. Your Mentor is the person who owns that work and guides you through it.

A letter of recommendation from your Mentor, a project record signed by both of you, and work samples where the company allows them. It's evidence of what you actually did, which is more useful than a certificate.

You can raise a concern with Instiform directly, separately from your Mentor. Mentors follow a code of conduct and Instiform runs safeguarding for every placement.

Next cohort

Your first real project starts with one application.

It takes about five minutes. We'll match you when a project fits.
